PERMIT PROCESSING PROCEDURES –
Green Light Driving
Academy administers the Texas Department of Public Safety Permit tests to our
students on the 3rd day of classroom instruction.
The permit tests
cover Road Rules and Traffic Signs.
If the student
passes these tests, we will provide a certificate to the student at the end of
the first week of class that will be used to take to the DPS to get their
permit.
Green Light Driving
Academy will provide the certificate (form DE-964) to the student IF the
student has satisfied the following:
·
Attended the first 6 hours of classroom instruction or if any of those
hours are missed, has turned in the make-up work provided for that day’s topic.
·
Passed the written permit tests on Road Rules and Traffic Signs
If the student has
not satisfied the above requirements, they will be given the certificate once
they have done so.
If the student is 15
years of age, they may then be taken to the DPS to get their permit. If they are not 15 years of age, you will
need to hold on to the certificate until that time.
The student will be
given a vision test at the DPS and they will have their picture and finger
prints taken. They will be issued a
paper permit which can be used to drive with until they receive their plastic one
in the mail.
Contact the school
office if there are any questions about this process.
