GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT REGISTRATION AND CLASSES

REGISTRATION FOR CLASSES AT BYRON NELSON HIGH SCHOOL (TROPHY CLUB)

While you can ALWAYS register for the classes held at the Byron Nelson High School at the Grapevine office, we also come to the school to register students for those classes twice a month during the school year.  We are in the school lobby after school normally on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.   Please see the dates below.

UPCOMING DATES FOR ONLINE REGISTRATION:

·         January 4, 2012

·         January 18, 2012

·         February 1, 2012

·         February 22, 2012

·

PLEASE NOTE:  The classes held at Byron Nelson High School are open ONLY for students that currently attend school in the Northwest ISD school district.  If your student is currently NOT enrolled at a NWISD school, even if you live in the district, you cannot be enrolled in the class held at Byron Nelson High School.  You can, however, take classes at our Grapevine location.

Ř  At this time, we cannot do classroom registration over the phone, via fax or on the Internet.

Ř  Maximum Enrollment – 36 Students (Grapevine) 33 Students (Coppell) and 30 Students (Trophy Club) // Minimum Enrollment – 15 Students at all locations

o    If we do not obtain a minimum of 10 registered students for a class before the first day of class, Green Light Driving Academy reserves the right to cancel the class and reschedule students to another class.

o    As we enter the month before the class – we will update our class schedule to show the current enrollment of that class.  This information will be updated at least once per week.  Please make note of the last time the classroom schedule has been updated.  You can also call the school offices at (817) 310- 0193 (Grapevine or Trophy Club) or (469) 549-0002 (Coppell) to find out the current enrollment of a class.

Ř  The Classroom portion of the course consists of 16 days, 2 hours per day for a total of 32 hours of instruction.  State law requires this amount of classroom instruction for teen driving instruction.

o    4-Week Schedule:  Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday, 2 hours each

o    3-Week Schedule:  Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday with one Saturday class, each for 2 hours.  The Saturday class times will be provided when class starts and will more than likely be during the day.

Ř  Students can miss up to 5 days of the classroom instruction, but must make these days up.  Please refer to our full make-up policy here č MAKE-UP POLICY.

o    If the class schedule falls on a school or national holiday (except for special closings shown below) the class will meet as scheduled.  If the student misses that class, they will have to make-up the class per our make-up policy.

o    If the school has to be closed for any reason (weather, problems at the facility, etc), we will try to reschedule a different day for that class to be held (i.e. scheduled on a Friday or a Saturday that there is normally not a class scheduled.)  If the student cannot make this rescheduled class, it will be treated as a normal absence and they will need to attend a make-up class to complete the class work.

o    Students do not have to make up their classes missed during their scheduled classroom session; however they must make their missed classroom days within 365 days (1 year) of starting class.

Ř  The first 3 days of class cannot be missed or there will be a delay in the student getting their learner’s permit (granted all other requirements are met, i.e. age, testing and required documentation is provided).  According to TEXAS STATE LAW, a student must attend the first 6 hours of classroom instruction to be issued a permit.  A student must be able to attend 2 out of the first 3 days to be registered for a session.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  If any of the first 3 days of class are missed, the student’s permit will not be issued until that class time is made-up.

Ř  SPECIAL CLOSINGS: Classes will not be held for certain holidays throughout the year.  The classroom schedule will be worked around these closings.
