GREEN LIGHT DRIVING ACADEMY

CLASSROOM MAKE-UP POLICY – TEEN-DRIVING COURSE

A student can miss up to 5 of the scheduled classes and complete the course with the schedule.  The classes missed must be made up however within 180 days of starting the class.   See below for the make-up policy for students that have missed MORE than 6 days of the scheduled classroom instruction.

FIVE (5) OR LESS ABSENCES

Students that have missed 5 or less of the regularly scheduled classes in the classroom schedule must make them up by attending Make-up Days scheduled on Saturday at their respective school locations.    These make-up sessions are held from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on these Saturdays (see below for the schedule of Saturdays for the next few months).

Although, we have 2 make-up “sessions” on Saturday, if a student only has one class to make-up, they must attend the 8:30 – 10:30 session.  The 10:30 – 12:30 session is meant for students that have more than one class to make-up.  Just as with the regular classes, students cannot be late for the make-up class.  They must arrive at 8:30 a.m.   If they do not arrive by that time, they will not be able to attend the make-up the class and will need to come to another Saturday class.   There is no need to “schedule” a make-up class or make pre-arrangements to attend.

The make-up work that the student will be working on will cover the material missed in the scheduled class.  We have prepared a packet of work to be done for each class missed and the student will work at their own pace.   This make-up work is strictly textbook work.  Any of the videos shown or discussion had during class cannot be provided for make-up work and the student must read through the material and provide the answers as required from that particular class’s packet.  There will be an instructor available during that time in the event that the student has any questions about the material they are working on.

It should only take the student 2 hours to complete the course work for one class missed so plan accordingly.  They will be allowed a break every hour.  If a student has missed more than 2 classes, they should plan on making these classes up on 2 separate Saturdays.   All regular class rules apply: i.e. No electronic devices will be allowed while in class, talking will be held to a minimum; etc.

Students that need to attend make-up session to complete classroom work may begin the driving instruction portion of the course.  They do not have to wait until they have completed the make-up work to start driving.

SIX (6) OR MORE ABSENCES

Students that miss 6 or more of the regularly scheduled classes in the classroom schedule will be removed from that class and will need to be placed in another class where they can complete their class work.  There will be a $50.00 administrative fee charged for moving a student to another class.

The student will only have to make up the classes missed in the new class, i.e. if the student missed Day 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 = they will only attend those days for the class that they move to.

If the student misses any of THOSE days of class, they will be removed from that class as well and will have to start the driving instruction program over from the beginning as if they were never enrolled.  They can retain their permit, however, they.  There will be no refunds given if this situation occurs.

A student that is in this situation cannot take any drive times until all class work is completed.
