Green Light Driving Academy offers
a state-approved driver education course for teenagers that includes 32 hours
of classroom instruction, 14 hours of in-car (behind-the-wheel) instruction,
learner permit processing and on-line in-car instruction scheduling. ü The classroom instruction is set up for 16, 2-hour sessions or
classes. During the school year, the
classes are held Monday – Thursday for 4 weeks. In the summer, the classes are held Monday – Friday for 3 weeks
and then one class is held on a Saturday. ü The in-car (behind-the-wheel) instruction is taken AFTER the classroom
is completed and the student has their learner’s permit. The in-car instruction is set up as 7

When does a student get their learner’s
permit? |
During the first week of class,
the student will be given their learner’s permit test. If the student is age 15, has attended the
first 6 hours of instruction (3 days), passes the test and we have the proper
documentation they will have their permit by the second week of classroom

If the student does not pass either of the
learner’s permit tests, what happens? |
If a student fails one of the two
written tests required for the learner’s permit, they can retake the test
during the next scheduled class. The
student will re-take the test during the class break so that they will not
miss any of that class’s lessons. This would also apply to any student
that is absent on test day. NOTE: If a student misses any of the first 3 class days, they can
take the test as planned, but they must make-up the classes missed before we
can take the documentation to the DPS for processing. The student will not be given the
same test again, but will be given one of the other 4 versions provided by
the If a student fails a second time,
a study packet is given to the student that must be completed in full before
the student is given the test again.
The packet is a copy of the review test. The correct answers must be given as well as the page number
from the driver’s handbook. Once the instructor has checked
the packet for accuracy, the student is allowed to take the test 4 or more
times, changing versions each time. |
